Our Events

The A Change of Pace Foundation will produce five community-oriented events in 2009. These events are held in Yolo County and strive to provide a fun and safe atmosphere to encourage all members of the community to exercise. As we see it, It's never too late to get healthy.

Davis Stampede

Davis Stampede logoThe Davis Stampede is an annual running/walking tradition that is the unofficial kick-off to the Northern California running and walking season  The Davis Stampede offers a fun event for all ages, abilities and interests. Events include a 5K (3.1 miles), 10K (6.2 miles), Half Marathon (13.1 miles), and three non-competitive kid's fun runs (1 mile, 1/2 mile and 1/4 mile distances).

The Davis Stampede hosts approximately 3,000 runners and walkers each year plus an additional 1,500 spectators. All participants and spectators are invited to our sports expo, where our vendors offer food sampling, sports nutrition, apparel and other health-related products and samples.  The courses are quiet, peaceful and flat loop courses!

The Davis Stampede takes place each year in February. Click here to read more about the Davis Stampede.

Positive Energy Kids Triathlon

PEKT logoThe Positive Energy Kids Triathlon is a non-competitive kids triathlon that incorporates exercise into a fun event. Participation, a positive experience and a sense of accomplishment are what our young athletes walk away with after the event. The Positive Energy Kids Triathlon, like our other kid's events, is intended to be viewed as an"event" rather than a "race." Both finish times and placement take a backseat to the goals at hand. As with all our kids events, the emphasis on completion over competition will continue to be the driving force to it's success.

The 2009 Positive Energy Kids Triathlon will take place on Sunday, May 19th at Arroyo Park in West Davis. For more information, please click here.

Davis Youth Baseball Camp

DYBC logoThe Davis Youth Baseball Camp (DYBC)provides athletes ages 5-12 with a fundamental understanding of baseball. Given our age range, emphasis will be placed on Little League play. The camp is designed with a personal and positive approach and has proven to be highly successful. All activities are structured for rapid skill development with appropriate emphasis placed on each age level.

Campers desiring an all-day camp may enroll in our afternoon "Splash" Camp. Afternoon camp continues after 12:00 noon when the morning camp is dismissed. It includes a daily lunch, additional baseball instruction, and two hours at the nearby Community Pool for swimming. Given the pool time, all players enrolled in the afternoon camp must be pool safe.

For older kids, we offer the DYBC Advanced Pitching Camp for kids ages 11-18. The Advanced Pitching Camp will be held daily from 1-3 pm and focuses on pitching and arm strenthening/care. The 2009 DYBC Camp will take place in June.

California Kids Triathlon - Woodland

CKT logoThis event is designed for any child, ages 4-17, regardless of athletic ability or prior triathlon experience. The courses and distances were created to be achievable for all athletes. The philosophy behind the event is Completion rather than Competition. We want all our young triathletes to walk away from the event with a sense of pride in knowing that they completed a triathlon. In doing so, the focus of the event is NOT on finish times, placing, etc. Every child receives a custom medal when they cross the finish line and there is no awards ceremony for top division finishers.

The event will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Woodland, CA. [Read more]
