The A Change of Pace Foundation is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization, established in 2007. Based in Davis, CA, the Foundation's annual efforts include healthy family-oriented events, youth exercise programs, kids triathlons and camps, and community education. The Foundation is administed by a Board of Directors, of whom meet monthly. The Foundation relies on grants, donations, and special event income & sponsorships to fund our programs and events. We have more than twenty years of experience on the
local, regional and national level in the running and multisport field.
The Positive Energy Campaign, established in 2006, was designed
to encourage positive exercise for kids through fun, fitness-oriented
events. This Campaign now includes four high-profile events,
including one of the largest kids triathlons in the country, the
California Kids Triathlon. With less than 30% of tested K-12 students
in California meeting the criteria to be in the “Healthy Fitness Zone,”
we are striving to increase the number of kids we reach with our
programs and events. Our events serve as a motivational tool for our
We know how important it is for organizations to be involved in the communities they serve. Our corporate partnerships offer the opportunity to enhance and create an atmosphere of caring and support. In addition to the significant exposure the organization can receive for being associated with the Foundation, these partnerships assist in the formation and execution of our programs, thus enabling us to: • create and develop after-school exercise programs to educate youth, especially those with limited resources.

Lisa Herrington, Secretary Lisa Yackzan Herrington graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and attended the University of California at San Diego where she obtained an Exercise Science and Fitness Instruction Certificate. While in San Diego Lisa had the opportunity to work at Fitness Quest 10, a world-class performance center and sports facility, where she trained people of all ages and abilities. In addition she designed fitness programs for San Diego Medical Services Enterprise which was comprised of San Diego Firefighters, paramedics and EMTs. In 2006, Lisa moved back to her hometown of Davis, California and began a series of exercise programs. She taught outdoor boot-camp classes, implemented a fitness training program with the Rumsey Fire Department and was an assistant P.E. coach. Lisa currently works full-time as a Business Manager for Maloof Sports and Entertainment but still finds time for her passion ~ inspiring others to lead healthy lifestyles. She especially enjoys instilling a sense of confidence in children through exercise and fun physical activities. |

Jocelyn Miramontes, Treasurer Jocelyn Miramontes graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis. After working for three years as a public accountant, she took a job with a local nonprofit organization where she administers the financial aspects of the business as well as corporate processes and procedures in compliance with nonprofit laws and regulations and Federal financial grant administration. She previously served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Woodland Art Center. Jocelyn enjoys traveling and volunteering for various community service events with her church in her hometown of Woodland.

Brad Shuman, Board Member Brad, also a staff member, is involved with site planning and set-up, permit coordination, and equipment needs for the Foundation’s events. A graduate of the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Brad brings over 25 years of experience working with youth and outdoor activities to the Foundation. He is a former SCUBA instructor having taught all levels of diving from recreational, to leadership, and research diving at both UC Davis and a dive shop he co-founded. An active volunteer in the classroom, as well as the Patwin PTA where he has chaired a number of committees and served on the board as Vice President and President. Brad also enjoys coaching youth sports. He resides in Davis with his wife and two children.

Allison Pohl, Board Member Allison Pohl has a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration and a master’s degree in Education with a minor in cross-cultural teaching and curriculum development. She currently works for the University of California as a research grants administrator. Allison and her husband, Steve, have two children who are currently enrolled at Patwin Elementary. Together, as a family, they have volunteered for a number of groups in the greater Yolo County area for the past 6 years. |

Dave Miramontes, Executive Director Dave's impressive 22 years of event director leadership and marketing experience are invaluable to the Foundation. Dave also has been involved with youth sports for 15 years, from producing kid-related events to managing/coaching youth sports teams to sitting on the Board of Directors for Davis Little League. As the Race Director for the Foundation's events, Dave is responsible for course design and implementation and oversees all aspects of the events, including graphic design, advertising, marketing and logistics. Dave graduated with a BS from Pepperdine University and majored in both Physical Education and Communications. As a former division I and minor league baseball player, Dave has an extensive background with both professional and youth sports. He hobbies include tennis, running, cycling, and of course baseball. Jennifer Miramontes, Director of Marketing Jennifer has over twenty years of experience in the marketing field, including positions as the Marketing Director for Chevys Fresh Mex restaurants and Real Mex restaurants. Jennifer also has extensive experience developing community programs geared towards children, having served on the Board of Directors for the Davis Schools Foundation as well as the Patwin PTA. Jennifer has a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Pepperdine University, and is also a certified personal trainer, leads a local women's running group, coaches youth soccer and is an avid tennis player. A runner herself, Jennifer has completed numerous triathlons and over 50 marathons, including top age-group finishes in high profile events such as the Boston Marathon and the Rock N Roll Marathon. Jeannine Henderson, Controller Jeannine brings thirteen years of event management and promotions experience to the Foundation. Aside from maintaining the finances, Jeannine is also responsible for volunteer recruitment, website design, marketing, graphic design and event logistics as the Assistant Race Director. A graduate of the University of California - Davis, Jeannine holds three Bachelor's degrees, in the fields of Economics, Organizational Studies and Political Science. Jeannine also has several years of experience coaching competitive youth soccer as well as playing in competitive adult soccer leagues; these skills help to broaden the scope of the Foundation's exercise programs.
